LANSING, Aug. 28, 2025 ~ After a weeks-long stalemate, the GOP-controlled State House introduced its proposed state budget, looking to increase road funding while cutting other government entities.
The budget proposal contains a $3.4 billion increase in road funding, with road improvement a sticking point for the GOP during budget talks. However, the House budget would also cut funds Department of Civil Rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion inititiaves, food assiatnce, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. In total, the budget allocates $54.63 billion to state departments, and $12.09 billion for the Genral Fund.
