DETROIT, Aug. 26, 2025 ~ The Detroit Lions’ roster has officially been cut down to 53 men as the 2025 regular season inches closer.
A couple of notable contributors to the roster over the past few years of Head Coach Dan Campbell’s tenure were released, including offensive lineman Dan Skipper and linebacker Anthony Pittman. (CONTINUED) NFL teams have until Wednesday, Aug. 27 at noon to claim any player who was recently waived. If no team claims a player during that time, they ‘clear waivers’—meaning they’re free to rejoin their original team, either on the active roster or the practice squad.
Detroit will be looking to welcome back some of their waived players who stood out during preseason, including UDFA wide receiver Jackson Meeks and rookie defensive end Ahmed Hassanein, who will miss a majority of the season with a pec injury.
There is only 16 spots available on each team’s practice squad, with an extra spot ready for a player from the International Player Pathway program.
