CANTON, August 1, 2025 ~ The Lions were dominated in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.
The game took a turn for the worse for Detroit on the very first play, when linebacker Grant Stuard fumbled the ball on the kickoff return. Los Angeles quickly capitalized, scoring on a five-yard pass from Trey Lance to Will Dissly.
The Lions’ next five possessions consisted of a punt and back-to-back interceptions by starting quarterback Kyle Allen. The first interception placed the Chargers at the Detroit 6-yard line, leading to a touchdown that made it 14–0. Detroit managed its only touchdown of the game on a three-yard rushing score by running back Craig Reynolds. The Chargers responded with their third touchdown of the game, extending the lead to 21–7. Detroit got the ball back but punted again before halftime.

Despite the loss, fans got a glimpse of promising rookie wide receiver Isaac Teslaa, who recorded two receptions for 46 yards. Fellow rookie Dominic Lovett added five receptions for 31 yards. Reynolds finished with ten carries for 38 yards, including a touchdown, and one reception for 10 yards.
The Lions’ official preseason begins on Friday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. in Atlanta against the Falcons.
