WHAT DANETTA LYNESE SIMPSON STANDS FOR:
Simpson’s campaign is built around three core priorities: revitalizing neighborhoods, modernizing infrastructure, and enhancing public safety.
Key elements of her platform include:
Water Infrastructure: She has made upgrading Detroit’s aging water system a top priority, citing the need to address chronic flooding and prepare for more extreme weather events.
Gun Violence Prevention: Simpson supports stricter gun laws and believes law enforcement should lead violence intervention efforts to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
Tenant Rights: She advocates for stronger protections for renters, including a conditional right to lease renewal, while also recognizing the need for fair treatment of landlords.
Home Repair Support: Her plan includes city-backed grants, loans, and insurance programs to help residents maintain and improve their homes—especially those who may not qualify for traditional financial assistance.
Education and Youth: Simpson emphasizes the importance of educational support, particularly literacy, and wants to ensure that Detroit’s children have the tools they need to succeed.
Environmental Sustainability: She supports expanding green spaces and promoting urban agriculture as a way to improve public health, foster community resilience, and create local food opportunities.
