DETROIT, June 12, 2025 ~ On Tuesday, General Motors announced that it will be spending $4 billion to increase its domestic manufacturing, including plants in Michigan.
The company will transfer much of its electric and gas-powered car manufacturing from Mexico to the U.S., with GM planning to assemble over 2 million vehicles annually at these plants. GM is investing in plants in Kansas, Tennessee, and Michigan, with the Lake Orion Assembly in Lake Orion Township and Factory ZERO in Detroit and Hamtramck expected to receive new manufacturing projects in the next two years.
