DETROIT, June 12, 2025 ~ Detroit Tigers‘ starting pitcher Jackson Jobe has been ruled out for the rest of the 2025 season for Tommy John surgery, the team announced Wednesday, June 11.
After being placed on the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain in his pitching elbow in late May, Jobe will be sidelined well into 2026 to fully heal from the procedure on his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL).
The recovery process generally lasts from 12-18 months.

(CONTINUED) In his rookie season, Jobe posted a 4-1 win-loss record with a 4.22 earned run average. In 49 innings pitched, the former No. 3 overall pick totaled 39 strikeouts and a 1.49 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched).
Now that Jobe will be shelved until at least next season, Detroit is waiting on the return of Reese Olson from the IL. The Tigers are also hopeful Alex Cobb will join the team in the foreseeable future after a couple of rehab starts in the minor leagues. The $15 million free agent signing has yet to pitch a game in the MLB this year, receiving multiple hip injections throughout the rehab process.
