DETROIT, June 11, 2025 ~ The Detroit Tigers continued their impressive hot streak with a 5-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night at Camden Yards. The win marked Detroit’s 11th in its last 15 games, solidifying the Tigers’ position atop the majors with a 44-24 record.
The Detroit Tigers’ offense came alive in the fifth inning. First baseman Spencer Torkelson crushed his 16th home run of the season—a two-run shot—capping a four-hit, three-run outburst. Third baseman Zach McKinstry tripled while outfielder Riley Greene and catcher Dillon Dingler each chipped in with key hits to spark the surge. The Tigers tagged Orioles starter Cade Povich for five earned runs over five innings, dropping his record to 1-5.

(CONTINUED) On the mound, Detroit used a bullpen game to great effect. Brant Hurter opened with 2 2/3 innings of one-run ball before handing it off to Sawyer Gipson-Long, who impressed in just his second appearance since returning from injury. Gipson-Long struck out five and allowed only one run over 4 2/3 innings, keeping the Orioles in check through the middle frames.
Baltimore made a late push in the ninth when third baseman Jordan Westburg homered off Tigers reliever Will Vest, but the right-hander regrouped to secure his 11th save of the season. The Orioles managed just six hits on the night, struggling to generate consistent offense against Detroit’s pitching.
The Tigers and Orioles meet again Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. Starting pitcher Casey Mize is slated to start for Detroit, while Zach Eflin will take the mound for Baltimore.
