May 12, 2025 ~ The Detroit Tigers had their first series of the season over the weekend against the Texas Rangers. WJR Senior Sports Analyst Steve Courtney talks with “‘JR Morning” about individual players’ performances and not overreacting to these losses.
(CONTINUED) Tigers Manager A.J. Hinch described Mize’s injury as mild. Since it’s so early in the season, the team decided to play it safe by sending Mize to the IL to not risk further injury.
As Mize will sit for at least two weeks, Detroit is getting healthier in other areas. Outfielder and third baseman Matt Vierling and catcher Jake Rogers are both on the mend after missing significant time this year.
The Tigers will host the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park for a three game series to kick off this week before heading up north to Toronto.
