TROY, MI, April 28, 2025 ~ A new Michigan startup is looking to tackle the electric vehicle market with a highly affordable pickup truck.
Slate Auto, based out of Troy, recently introduced the Slate Truck, an EV that will cost only $20,000 (after federal EV incentives), with backing from billionaire Jeff Bezos. Part of the reason why the truck will be so cheap is because it ditches many modern features, said Crain’s Detroit Managing Business Editor Mike Lee, including touch screens and powered windows.
