EAST LANSING, March 16, 2025 ~ Michigan State basketball officially claimed the two seed in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament during the Selection Sunday show.
The Spartans finished the year 27-6, winning the Big Ten regular-season title before falling in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals to Wisconsin.
MSU will face Bryant in the first round of the tournament before a potential second round rematch from 2023 with Marquette. Michigan also earned a spot in the region after winning the conference tournament final Sunday afternoon, landing as a five seed. The number one spot in the bracket was awarded to Auburn.

(CONTINUED) The last time the green and white were a two seed in March Madness was 2016. The team was upset in the first round by Middle Tennessee State.
Michigan State made the second round last season as a nine seed, ultimately losing to the West Region’s top seed, North Carolina.
With the announcement, MSU has now made 27 straight NCAA Tournament appearances under head coach Tom Izzo.
The Spartans will tip off the tournament Friday, March 21 in Cleveland. If the team advances, they will play Sunday for a chance to advance to the Sweet 16.
