Wayne County Sherriff’s SCOUT Program Tackles Community Challenges

WAYNE COUNTY, June 13, 2024 ~ Recently, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department launched a new program, called SCOUT, to help organize community efforts to tackle quality-of-life issues in local neighborhoods, primarily in the city of Detroit. Wayne County Sheriff Raphael Washington told WJR, “Detroit Police do have a neighborhood police officer service, but we go in and help them with that. Quality of life issues, (like) drag racing, drifting that vehicles, do in the summer months, loitering in front of stores that add intimidation factor to our seniors, abandoned vehicles that are on on the street, they want those things removed.“
