DETROIT, April 26, 2024 ~ On Thursday, the Detroit Lions traded up from No. 29 to No. 24, allowing the team to secure Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold in the first-round of the NFL Draft.
Terrion, who many considered to be the top cornerback in this year’s Draft, should make a significant impact in the Lions’ efforts to reshape their secondary and improve their 27th-ranked pass defense.
The acquisition complements other recent moves to sure up the Lions’ secondary, included a trade for veteran cornerback Carlton Davis from Tampa Bay, and the offseason signing of cornerback Amik Robertson from free agency following four years with Las Vegas.

(CONTINUED) In 2023, Terrion was a top performer for the Alabama Crimson Tide, logging 63 combined tackles, 12 pass deflections, five interceptions, one forced fumble, and one sack. He received All-American honors and tied for the Southeastern Conference lead in interceptions and passed defended.
“We couldn’t be more ecstatic or thrilled how it went,” Detroit Lions General Manager Brad Holmes told the media. “We weren’t really anticipating being able to add (a cornerback) in the first round … (we) thought we would be kinda out of the mix for a lot of those guys. Especially (Terrion) … he was our highest rated corner.”
The trade deal that secured Arnold gave the Dallas Cowboys the Lions’ No. 29 and third-round No. 73 pick, in exchange for the No. 24 slot this year and a seventh-round pick in 2025.
