The preliminary exam for Michigan Health and Human Services chief Nick Lyon involving the Flint water crises resumes today.
Lyon is charged with involuntary manslaughter and misconduct in office for allegedly trying to cover up the Legionnaires outbreak in the Flint-area in 2014 and 2015.
12 area residents were killed and sickened 79 others.
The manslaughter charge is a 15 year felony.
Previous testimony at the exam from Wayne State University Professor Shawn McElmurray indicated that Flint’s switch to water usage from the Flint River helped spur the the Legionnaires outbreak.
The professor had been hired by the state to investigate the problem and said he had disagreements with Lyon on the need for quick testing of water filters for the Legionnaires disease.
