The Pistons will really be the Detroit Pistons, with the announcement coming this afternoon. Team owner Tom Gores will be joined by Chris Ilitch of Olympia Development and the Ilitch organization, which will bring the Pistons to play at the Little Caesar’s Arena, under construction. The Pistons and the Red Wings will play at the new arena.
The Pistons have played at the Palace of Auburn Hills since 1988. The Palace was built for the Pistons by the former owner, the late William Davidson, and was sold to businessman Tom Gores along with the team after Davidson died.
