Voters may have rejected a new public mass transit tax, but the Regional Transit Authority is considering a rapid bus line between Ann Arbor, Detroit Metro, and Detroit. The RTA says it will keep working toward a regional transit system despite the tax vote.
The RTA would need grant funding to pay for it. No details have been determined.
A transit connection between Wayne and Washtenaw counties was a major goal of the regional transit system that was defeated at the polls Nov. 8. It would have paid for expanded bus services across the 4-county area, as well as commuter rail service between downtown Detroit and Ann Arbor.
