Slow sales is prompting GM to make layoffs and cut shifts at factories in Michigan and Ohio.
General Motors will cut more than 2,000 factory jobs because of slowing demand for cars.
GM is eliminating the third shift at the Lansing plant that makes the Chevrolet Camaro, Cadillac ATS and Cadillac CTS. The move affects 810 hourly workers and 29 salaried positions.
The Chevy Cruze plant in Lordstown, Ohio, will eliminate the third shift. 1,200 hourly and 43 salaried jobs will be cut.
GM car sales off 7 percent this year.
But GM said it plans investments at three plants — Toledo Transmission, the Lansing plant that’s getting layoffs, and a casting plant in Indiana.
