The Catholic Church in Detroit will ask God for forgiveness of it’s sins today.
Archbishop Allen Vigneron will lead what is called Mass For Pardon. The church says it will seek atonement for sins committed by the church— racism, failure to spread the faith, and abuse of children by members of the clergy.
The archdiocese has been on social media about Mass For Pardon. The church will hold a synod later in the year to set the future of the Catholic Church in the Detroit area.
