A Detroit police sergeant is recovering from gunshot wounds, after he was shot in the line of duty at a gas station near 7 Mile and Hayes on the city’s east side.
The officer was pursuing a shooting suspect when the shots were fired. The officer was shot in the shoulder.
The officer was taken to a hospital. He is in temporary serious condition and is expected to be okay. The officer worked out of the 9th precinct.
The gunman was taken into custody after a foot chase. Police say the gunman was wanted for shooting his father.
That shooting happened Sunday when a man was shot by his son while having dinner inside a home.
The 21-year-old suspect is said to be diagnosed with depression and was not taking his medication.
