FCA is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission over the way the company reports sales.
The report says FCA discovered that 5,000 to 6,000 vehicles were reported sold by dealers, that had not been completed.
Fiat Chrysler has a record of 75 consecutive months of sales gains. A dealership group in Illinois sued the company, claiming that FCA paid dealers to pad their sales reports. FCA denies the charges.
