Former Detroit City Council member and civil rights activist Nicholas Hood Sr. has died. The senior Hood was also the Pastor Emeritus of Plymouth United Church of Christ. Nicholas Hood, Sr. served on the city council for 28 years. He was instrumental in developing the first church sponsored charter school in Michigan. He was 92 .
