The extension allows the Federal Emergency Management Agency to continue providing water, filter cartridges, and test kits for beyond the initial deadline of next month. FEMA said, after August, that’s it. State officials say the estimated re-coating of water lines in Flint with a chemical film to stop lead from leaching from pipes should be done by May 1.
