Hundreds of millions of dollars to help replace the aging water lines in Flint may be coming from the federal government under bi-partisan legislation filed in the U.S. Senate today.
Under the plan, the federal drinking water state revolving fund would be authorized to make up to $100 million in subsidized loans starting now to any state that receives an emergency declaration due to contaminated drinking water. Michigan’s Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters are among the proposals top sponsors.
