American Girl announced it’s newest addition to its doll collection, and it has a Detroit connection. Melody Ellison will be released this summer. She is a 9-year-old African American doll from the 1960’s. The doll will have her own bed and a recording studio that plays Motown music. Just like all of her American girl cousins, she’ll have a wardrobe and a book that outlines her story and place in history. The company says she’ll retail for $115.
