A little girl, who was probably very frightened, had the wherewithal to call 911 after her mom’s boyfriend fired a gun in her apartment. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to North Hill Farms Apartments regarding shots fired after she placed the 911 call to report Dijan Lamar. Lamar is her mom’s boyfriend who was babysitting her and her two younger brothers.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office: “The child stated that one of her brothers observed the handgun in the suspect’s waist band and he asked the suspect if it was real. The suspect pulled the gun out and stated that the gun was not real. The suspect then racked the gun, loading a live round in the chamber and fired one round in the living room floor. Deputies were unable to locate the handgun, but were able to locate evidence of where the firearm had been discharged and recovered bullet fragments including a spent shell casing. The children were left in the custody of their mother who returned to the scene. There were no injuries to any of the children. Child Protective Services was notified. The suspect stated that he threw the gun in the sewer but would not say where. The weapon could not be located by Deputies after an extensive search. It is believed he disposed of the gun in another manner than he states.”
Dijan Lamar was arraigned at the 5oth District Court and was given a $50,000 cash surety bond. His next court date is on February 18.
